The Book of Revenant

Edwin Birdsong - “Cola Bottle Baby”

Wow, so that’s where that sample comes from.

And, my goodness, what a very very long sample that turns out to have been.

    Yikes.

I always knew, but I never really knew.

  3. NSCollectionView Troubles

So I have been trying to get an NSCollectionView going for picking the puzzles in the desktop port for subaku. I found this article and like it says, the available documentation for NSCollectionView just seems lacking. What there is is mostly just Interface Builder connections and stuff, but going beyond that just seems to cause frustration. I want to be able to give it more customization that the bindings easily seem to do.

With the help of the above stack overflow page, I was able to get what you see above. But despite setting the selector, the button never actually calls it when it gets pushed. I am a bit confused here on what exactly I am missing.

  4. By my calculations:

This book is 105 words and sells for $3.59 on Amazon.

That comes out to 3.4¢ a word and 54.7¢ for the “woofs”.

The book is 15.2% “woofs”.

My son really, really wants me to read this book two or three times a day. So I say “woof” an average of forty times a day.

Woof.

  6. Started playing Trails in the Sky: SC

I finished Time Travelers earlier this morning and then wa suddenly, like usual, in the mood to start something new. Yes, even though I am in the middle of a whole bunch of other games. It is just want I want to do as soon as I finish a game.

    image

So, I booted up Trails in the Sky SC and I have to say so far I am really liking the story although I am finding myself just as frustrated with it as I was with FC. It starts you off deep into the system. Not much seems to have changed so far, although there is a combo system that I am not quite understanding why I would ever use. The battles are as tough, and fun, as they were before. I still only have two party members at the moment, which that being the standard for most of FC being my biggest problem with the game, but people tell me that I will soon have a full party, and that is what makes this series really shine, I think.

Well other than the dialogue. Which there is lots of. And it is pretty good.

I could have sworn there was a mini map system in FC and yet here I am getting lost in dungeons because there is no map to help me not be completely stupid. Well. There it is on the not-dungeon area. Completely helpful as that is a small area with not many options. Of course the big ol’ forest where my dumb self gets completely lost and ends up wandering around for the good part of an hour? No map. Not that I am entirely complaining as I ended up getting Estelle to level 40 which is, I believe, the max she could be when transferring data over from FC. So then. It is kind of like I did that. I suppose.

  7. Git This

Today I used git for the first time. I know, as a programmer I perhaps should probably already have eighty million lines of code in git repositories and I am probably some sort of a newbie or failure in the eyes of someone. Oh well.

Anyway! I used git. And when my friend was going to git my code (ha?) there was a problem. The code could not be gitten. So I re-pushed and he re-pulled and there was a problem so he fixed it and then I pulled and then pushed and well, I screwed up somewhere and nothing would work entirely right anymore. Could not load the nib. The nib was there! Waiting to be loaded. Could not load the nib.

So I figured might as well redo that part of it anyway. Make it better the next time around. Stronger, faster, and so on. Turns out that something got goofy.

Yup. Look at that. Well then! Is that not weird. Somehow within all the pushing and pulling a large chunk of the files got their Target Membership revoked. They had to go shopping at Walmart, I suppose. Anyway, adding them back in and boom. Works. Great!

(Oh yeah, and I guess this is me stealth announcing that I am working on an OS X port of subaku. It should have a few new things. Look forward to it!)

  8. Always.

    Always.

  9. sexpigeon:

Broke my home button, have to use that funny little assistive soft button instead. “So much for screenshots” is today’s small bummer about it.

Not only did I just now learn that this assistive button exists, but Device->Other->Screenshot also exists.

Oh, Apple, how you never cease to amaze me.

  10. *whistles*

Not yet, mind you. But it should be coming along soon. Or rather, I am giving myself about two more weeks to get everything together. I am busy, but I think we have some exciting things coming this year.
